Oh no I’ve modified my truck with aftermarket parts! For some reason Ford still puts giant whip antennas on their trucks. This might make sense if there was some radio reception benefit, but the reception is crap even with the big antenna. Got sick of snagging it on tree branches constantly and bought this CravenSpeed “Stubby” antenna. Seems to get pretty much the same reception and doesn’t hit the tree in my front yard every time I park in the driveway. Yay!
Ruby does not care about the antenna.
I also found this 2-pack of receiver plugs for stupid cheap on Amazon and stuck one on the truck and the other on the Outback. Murrica!

They have been baking radio antennas into front windshields since at least the late 70s so IDK why there are even antennas anymore.

My 17 Ram has one too. Might be time to upgrade.

Yeah it seems like pickups are all that is left with big whip antennae. I don’t really know why - I assume it is to grab better reception out in rural areas where a lot of pickups get used, but FM reception on my F-150 was crappy compared to my other cars even with the big antenna. Maybe AM but I never use that.

I don’t get it at all. Both of my Subarus have no external antenna and they both get better FM radio reception than the F-150.

Man, I feel really bad we never met up when we were in SA. I guess I wasn’t super comfortable with meeting random people from the internet then.

I feel the same. But think of the positive - if we had I probably would be hoarding old BMWs and you’d have a janky truck now.

This is true.
